Care that feels good to keep

Akiba exists for people whose bodies respond better without fragrance, and who prefer fragrance-free care on their skin.

We serve people who read labels carefully, who have learned to be attentive to their sensory limits, and who want care that feels comfortable every time it’s used - not just once. We also serve people who appreciate beautiful, thoughtfully made things and value care that fits easily into everyday life.

At Akiba, everything begins with a simple principle:

Care that feels good to keep.

That principle guides how we formulate, how we select ingredients, and how we describe our products. It means creating body care that feels comfortable from the first use and remains comfortable day after day. It means avoiding added fragrance, masking scents, and essential oils in our body care, so the experience on skin is predictable and easy to live with.

It also means being clear about boundaries.

Our body care is strictly fragrance-free.
Our home essentials are gently scented and designed for people who enjoy a softly scented space, even if they prefer no fragrance on their body. These products are created with restraint, using familiar, low-intensity scent profiles and minimal concentration to avoid sensory overload.

Clarity is essential to our work. You should always know what to expect before bringing something into your home or onto your body.

Akiba was founded by someone with lived experience of fragrance sensitivity, and that perspective informs every decision we make. Rather than designing for strong scent or sensory intensity, we design for comfort, continuity, and daily use.

We believe care should support your life as it is. It should be easy to return to, comfortable to keep using, and thoughtfully made to respect your limits.

That is the standard we hold ourselves to - and the experience we aim to offer through everything we create.

Meet the Maker

Hi, I’m Aba, founder of Akiba Fragrance and Wellness Studio.

I’ve always loved fragrance, beauty, and thoughtfully crafted things. I’m drawn to care that’s considered - objects and rituals that feel intentional, well made, and grounded in daily life.

I’m also someone who has lived with a smell disorder, and that experience reshaped how I think about personal care.

In 2017, I lost my sense of smell for several months. When it returned, it came back altered. For the next few years, I lived with parosmia - a distorted sense of smell that made many everyday scents difficult to tolerate. Familiar aromas no longer felt familiar, and products I once enjoyed became uncomfortable to use.

That experience changed how I understood fragrance - and what comfort really means.

Akiba grew from that understanding.

When scent stops being neutral, you learn quickly what works, what doesn’t, and what you’re willing to live with day after day. You also learn the difference between something that feels impressive once and something that feels safe to return to. That distinction guides everything I make.

Care that feels good to keep is not just a concept to me - it’s a requirement. It’s the standard I use when deciding what belongs on the skin, what belongs in the home, and what simply doesn’t belong at all.

I believe body and home care products should support daily life, not ask you to tolerate discomfort or make adjustments. They should feel safe, considered, and easy to live with.

Whatever your relationship to fragrance - whether you’re navigating sensitivity, recovering your sense of smell, or simply seeking well-considered care - I’m glad you’re here.

Thank you for being part of Akiba.

With care,

Aba
